It was a ridiculous strike zone no matter how you look at it. Gregg was one of the worst umpires of his time. I remember my Mom coming up with one of the classic lines when she saw him working a game at Candlestick one day: 'He looks like if you poked him with a pin he would go flying around the stadium.' I'm sure he was a good guy and may he rest in piece, but that line made me LOL, especially when it came from my Mother.
