All,
I am having a complete utter brain fart. I know the answer but then again I don't. My son cmac is transitioning to big boy fields league age 14
So I am seeing some stuff that i don't expect once they catch up with the field size.
anyway ..
Man on 1st and 2nd ..... Hitter hits ball to left Field ... Drops in front of left fielder ... At that point clearly base hit .. But due to age 2nd base runner can't make it to 3rd quick enough that he gets thrown out at 3rd force play. So is that fielders choice o 7 - 5? Bottom line is that it doesn't get recorded as a hit which sucks because it was

No hit does suck btw......same as the ripped line shot that bounces in front of the right fielder, but ends up 9-3 for the out.

Most of the cases were when man on first and frozen on a line drive to the CF who threw to the 2nd for the force out.

Thanks . I thought I had it right. A dad gave me different opinion and I started doubting.
The right field thingy happened to cmac yesterday. He beat it out but ump saw differently
The left field was a student of mine so it sucked from both a dad and instructor perspective yesterday !

We are just starting the 14u leaque this fall and he is now trying the drop 3 BBCOR and getting adjusted.

This kind of stuff happens to lots of kids when they make the switch to the big field. Have them steal lots of bases to make up for it. ;D As soon as the kids start to get a little bigger, it will all work out. I always added to the scorebook, "line drive" or "hard hit ball" when they got a deal like that and added a line to the stat sheet. Somehow, that made them feel a little better.
