The Phillips idea could be a very good fit and would allow Pedroia to move to SS, IMO. It could be wishful thinking on my part though, because I would like to see Phillips get a shot with a good team.

That's funny! The guy I coach with grew up with Pedroia and when he was 13 the discussions weren't,"if he makes the MLB but rather what position he would play". Another story I heard was when he went to college he walked into the coaches office and merely said, "coach, Hi, your starting shortstop is here." He definitely doesn't lack confidence.

I enjoyed this "tweet" from Kevin Goldstein (Baseball Prospectus) on the idea of Pedroia playing SS:
Kevin_Goldstein #RedSox moving Dustin Pedroia to short? Low errors + good fundamentals + well below-average range + scrappiness = he'll be overrated there.

lol, well Boston has had a problem finding a full time SS. I could see Pedroia on the other side of the infield. How long do they think he will be out for?
