How Do you Quantify a Valuable Defender?

I'd like to hear your thoughts...if you commit errors does that mean you are a poor defender?

Is there a limit to the number of errors you make based on your position?

How do you define a valuable defender?

i had a instructor one time who always use to say "as long as you a ( put name of your team here) your gonna get an out somewhere." i took that to mean it didnt always have to be the right out but it at least better be an out.

So would you say a valuable defender is the one that gets the most outs possible?
