Thanx to the owners of the board for making a forum that’s specifically created to discuss baseball statistics! Other boards have something similar, but most combine rules with statistics, and inevitably the forum will turn into questions about the rules, or situations, rather than statistics. I believe in the rules as much as the next guy, but since I don’t conduct games, usually the only rules I concern myself with are the rules that determine how something should be scored. I don’t know what level most folks on BBD deal with, but I’m pretty much scoring noting but HS varsity these last several years. Granted I don’t have a lot of data compared to all the HS games played in the last 10 years, but I do have some stuff many people thing is interesting, and I’m willing to share. So, if anyone has any question about keeping score, stats, or even the scoring rules, ask away! You never know what you’ll find out, and you might even teach me a thing or two.

SK if a runner passes another runner on the bases is he automatically out? If a player touches but does not pass a runner on the bases is he out ? To tell the truth, when you start asking questions about game conduct, you have to understand that that’s not my strong suit. But, I’ll give it a go. OBR - 7.08 Any runner is out when -- (h) He passes a preceding runner before such runner is out; What makes you believe one runner simply touching another runner would cause either to be out?

OBR - 7.09 It is interference by a batter or a runner when -- (g) In the judgment of the umpire, the base coach at third base, or first base, by touching or holding the runner, physically assists him in returning to or leaving third base or first base.
