It's amazing how many good freshman they have. If they don't go that far in the CWS this year, they have the next two years.

They're off to a good start! Bauer is quite a character. I also love the Regis kid. By his junior year he should be an offensive stud.

Unfortunately I only caught a bit of the game yesterday but they looked good. The pitching was there and 18 hits while scoring in every inning but one...a very textbook effort from this team.

The train is picking up steam!!!!
Cole looked unhittable to the TCU batters for six very impressive innings, and my two favorite freshman, Amaral and Regis, made their presence felt once again. I really enjoy watching these kids!

After a shaky start Bauer stays hot and the offense comes through in a big way. TCU ran out of pitching while the Bruin arms keep bringing it. On to the finals.
GO BRUINS!!!

FWIW I think the Bruins can still win Kharma Of course they can...they just better clean up their act real quick.

That was quite a clunker. Here's hoping Rasmussen brings his mojo, the offense returns to form, and the defense puts that disaster behind them. Number 107 beckons!

How you do not walk Merrifield and Bradley is beyond me...
Maybe the guy after them gets a hit, but you have to play the percentages, and that was the wrong play.
Disappointing but a wonderful season for the Bruins...

Disappointing but a wonderful season for the Bruins... I also have to question Amaral bunting for a hit as leadoff in the top of the seventh. I'd prefer my best hitter and the team's hottest bat in the "post-season" to be swinging away in that situation. I can count on one hand the number of balls SC squared-up but they made their opportunities count and rode them to victory. Congrats to them and props to UCLA for a wonderful season! Couple of questions for Brett from someone who never played baseball at a high level: 1) Do you think the UCLA hitters tried to do too much against the soft-throwers from SC, and were they patient enough? 2) Do you think Klein was running on empty at the end? 3) Is college umpiring always that mediocre? Thanks! Mark

I think the UCLA club played real tight. It kind of seemed that it reached its apex when the first baseman made an error, and then broke his hand hitting the bench. Great run by UCLA, and as good of a college pitching staff as I have ever seen. Im sure he was a little tired, he was pitching much longer than usuall. I think Klein is a fantastic prospect. If he stays healthy, he will pitch in the big leagues. I remember complaining about an ump one time and my dad said "the level of umpiring often reflects the level of play"....I have used that line many times since...
